entertain young listeners
in this cover we can see the use of bright colours to create a fun mood.We can also see the presenter dressed in a party outfit. They have done this to match the style of music to the style of clothing.
BBC have also used a mix of shapes to put in the background of the cover. They have done this to match the title of "mix". They have also used a young presenter to be in the cover because of the genre of R and B. R and B is mostly listened to by young listeners, therefore they used a young presenter.

the presenters are funny and they acknowledge the use of slang and use it they use it on there radio.
The live lounge is also the name of a room in the radio 1 studios
artists are filmed in a intimate radio studio, acoustically
uses of gratifications
personal identity- relate to the presenters
information-background information
entertainment- enjoy the live music
social interaction-people can discuss the performance afterwards
what can you access from there ?
what artists are mentioned ?
The live lounge appeal to the audience by bringing on young artists and presenters who use slang words like "sick' and "bro" they also discuss things about social media and things that are going on that would interest the 15-29 target audience.Talking about these types of things eliminates the older target audience because they do not want to listen to these types of things being discussed this ensures that the BBC ensure there remit and attract the younger audience.
The BBC radio also supports upcoming artists these means like one time hits on live lounge and then this also introduces the younger generation to new music and different genres.

i think the purpose of the sk8er boi music video was used to help us understand whats going on in the song. we see things such as them in the middle of a city and running away from the police. we wouldn't of known this if it wasn't for the video. it also helps us find out her style and identity.
i think the teenage dirtbag video purpose was also help us understand more about the song. For example if there was a different video we could not have found out that the whole music video was a dream.
Monday 30th January
The remit of Radio 1 is to entertain and engage a broad range of young listeners with a distinctive mix of contemporary music and speech. Its target audience is 15-29 year olds and it should also provide some programming for younger teenagers.
it has live singers on studio and it educates them by talking about social media relevant topics
it offers a range of new music by bringing on new upcoming artists who no one has heard before so it will be new to them
they support emerging artists by bringing on new artists to perform live.
they provide a platform for live music by the live lounge.
they try and sell uk artist better by giving them a chance to sing live on the live lounge.
they use a mix of speech as "big up" and ''bro'' and mix the music by bringing on people like stormzy and billie eilish

questions 2.
the radio one live lounge target there target audience of 15-29 by bringing in young emerging artists such as stormzy. They also talk about relevant social media facts and use slang words such as "big up'' and "yo".
question 3
radio one can benefit the public because it is free and accessible to all people and could educate them about what is going on on social media. We see this on the live lounge when they talk about things like tiktok and love island.
question 4.
one way an audience member could be passive is by just listening and taking in the information. One way they could be active is by phoning up to BBC and texting and taking part in the games .
one way they reduce a wider range of content is by using the liven lounge because most other radios do not have live music. They do this because the they must apply to there remit and if they do not they will not get any funding and therefore they will close

mise-en-scene
the narrative is wheatus likes a girl but she has a popular boyfriend who bullies him. Wheatus enters a dream and dreams about him dancing with the girl, he then wakes up to realise its not real.

she is bathing in money and jewellery which shows that she is rich and very wealthy. The gold bath taps show again that she has a lot of money. There is also jewellery laying on the floor which means she does not care at all.
in this photo we see that her hat has been placed sideways which could make her look like a tom boy including the jewellery on her wrist what was highly in fashion at this time. This also makes her overall outfit represent her as middle class
In this we can see that all of her mates are boys who look like again lower class average teenagers. This would straight away draw us to her as she is in the centre of the photo as her mates are all talking whilst she is looking into the camera.
in this photo we can see avril smashing her guitar through a car window which is not stereotypically something a young girl would do. This means she is challenging these stereotypes.
in this we can see the boy sat on the bench with exactly in the middle of his head is placed a loser sign which automatically draws our attention to it. We also see him eating by himself whilst watching the girl with his boyfriend. the connotations of this is isolation and different.
in this we can see him wearing a really a casual
outfit including his hat, glasses and his tracksuit which makes him look like an average teenager which is ironic because thats what the song is about.
in this we see the girl walking by herself slowly towards the camera whilst in a red dress with the lighting directly on her which makes us automatically look at her as she is what most of the song is about and we didn't see a single shot of her by herself before this.

Melissa Viviane Jefferson (born April 27, 1988),[2] known professionally as Lizzo, is an American singer, rapper, and flutist. Born in Detroit, Michigan, she moved to Houston with her family when she was ten years old. After college she moved to Minneapolis, where she began her recording career in hip hop music. Prior to signing with Nice Life Recording Company and Atlantic Records, Lizzo released two studio albums—Lizzobangers (2013) and Big Grrrl Small World (2015). Lizzo's first major-label EP, Coconut Oil, was released in 2016.
Lizzo attained mainstream success with the release of her third studio album, Cuz I Love You (2019), which peaked at number four on the US Billboard 200. The album spawned the singles "Juice" and "Tempo". The deluxe version of the album included Lizzo's 2017 single "Truth Hurts" which became a viral sleeper hit two years after its initial release. It topped the US Billboard Hot 100, and became the longest-leading solo song by a female rapper. Around this time, her 2016 single "Good as Hell" also climbed the charts, reaching the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart. Lizzo received eight nominations at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, the most for any artist that year, including nominations for each of the "Big Four" categories; and eventually won the awards for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best Pop Solo Performance for "Truth Hurts", and Best Traditional R&B Performance for the song "Jerome".
In 2021, Lizzo released the single "Rumors" featuring Cardi B, which debuted in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100. Her fourth studio album Special (2022) was preceded by its lead single "About Damn Time", which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy Award for Record of the Year.
Aside from singing and rapping, Lizzo has also worked as an actor: she served as a voice actor in the animated film UglyDolls (2019) and appeared in the crime comedy-drama film Hustlers (2019). She is also the host of the Amazon Prime Video reality television series Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, for which she won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Competition Program.[3] In 2019, Time named Lizzo as "Entertainer of the Year" for her meteoric rise and contributions to music.[4] In addition to her four Grammy Awards, she has also won a Billboard Music Award, a BET Award, and two Soul Train Music Awards.

a canted angle shot was used in this photo
it is used to include everyone else in the photo and to potentially put us on there level as there on small bikes and cars. The atmosphere seems to be childish and fun and the song could potentially be about friendship.
the mise-en-scene used was the colour match between her outfit and also the car.
the connotations of the setting are abandoned, lonely, hot, sun.
the artist could be singing about being lonely or abandoned. We could interoperate this by the music cover showing us that there is no one else around.
The wide shot is showing us the desert and could be representing how wide the desert really is

the camera movement in a sk8er boi is expressionistic
For example, at one point in the video when she was running the camera men was also running.
The fast camera work fits the tone of the song because she is singing fast.
the camera movement in a teenage dirtbag is slow and naturalistic.
For example, at one point in the video when he was singing to the camera it was slow and natural
The slow camera work fits the tone of the song because he is singing slowly.

teenage dirtbag has longer shots so it focuses on the narrative
in a sk8er boi we see the expressionistic camera work and the fast paced clips and the misc on scene of characters outfits. In a sk8er boi they all wear old rock like clothes and not very formal. However in teenage dirtbag we see a naturalistic camera with a slow paced song and a smooth camera focus. We also see the juxtaposition of the misce on scene in the two. We see this by the complete class division in outfit wear ,
male: strong, taller, bigger, do the hard work, deeper voice
female: do the work at home, weaker, smaller, pink, voice higher
