Monday 11th March
there was gender inequality and more racism
explain how broadsheet newspapers reflect the time and historic contexts in which they where published. Refer to the observer front page from October 20th 1966 that you have studied to support your answer
the observer cover from the 1960s reflects racism. we see this in many covers. One cover we se this in is the 'britian shoots for gold' page. in this text we see language such as ''negroes'' used as everyday casual speech. This shows how in equal black people where and how they where treated like second class citizens all because of there skin colour. This isn't just slang on the streets this is being said and printed by higher class white men who are supposed to be 'educated'.
